Review: Barebell’s Salty Peanut protein bar

Continuing the journey in trying new protein bars, it’s time to try the popular Barebell’s salty peanut protein bar. I’ve come across it a few times in E-Commerce websites and when browsing the healthy section of Guardians, but I never bothered trying it before.

204 kcal per bar is pretty reasonable for a bar containing 20 grams of protein, and its pretty standard across different brands. The next important thing for me personally is the amount of sugar inside the bar, which for Barebell’s bar is about 1.3 grams of sugar and 14.7 grams of carbohydrate in other forms; there are other kinds of sweeteners included in this bar which give it a very sweet and caramel-like taste. And there are 4 grams of fiber in the bar which is not a lot but is certainly appreciated. I was feeling full for about an hour and a half after taking the bar.

The most impressive part was the taste, texture, and the smell of the bar. I could clearly smell notes of caramel after opening the bar, following by a smell of sweetness that usually comes with Mars bars. Bitting into it, I felt a similar texture to a caramel-chocolate bar, but without the excessive sweetness and discomfort. The peanut butter was delicious and complemented the overall taste and texture of the bar.

Overall, I think this is one of the tasty bars out there, and I can totally understand the popularity and the craze around it. I would definitely wanna try other flavors of Barebells bars in the future to see if there is any flavor better tasting than the Salted Peanut.
